Is it a good idea to chemical straighten my hair?

I have thin wavy hair, that i need to straighten every day to "tame" and de frizz. It would be nice to hop out of the shower and be able to let it air dry and look straight and nice...would a chemical straightener work in my hair? Would it damage it? Thoughts, ideas and comments please!!!

Well, you'll hair will definetely look better and more manageable, but it slightly will damage your hair.

I have medium, curly/frizzy hair and I'm geting it permanetely straightened also.

You can just let it air-dry and it will last 4-12 months. And when it fades, you can just get it re-done.

But even if it does get slightly damaged, its better than spending a long time straightening it out and damaging it EVERY day, right?

It wont work. You still have to blow dry it straight when you get out of the shower. I tried it. Its to expensive and doesn't save you ANY time.

try Brazilian keratin treatment instead.

If you have just wavy hair, then i wouldn't recomend it. It is really damaging to your hair. You can buy shampoo that helps defrizz your hair or shampoo that actually helps it dry straight.

get volumizing shampoo and conditioner

Is it a good idea to chemical straighten my hair?

No because after the perm is done, your hair will be even more frizzier, damaged and dry.

Either way if you're straightening it everyday then you'd be damaging it. If you chemically straighten it, you'd be damaging your hair as well. Just buy a product for your hair that protects against the flat iron. I know that Frizz -Ease has a product of that type. Good luck!

Do nOT Perm it!! If your hair is thin its only going to get thinner. I dont think you want straight and really thin hair.It doesn't look good at all.

Goodluck

I had my hair straightened through the japanese ionic method. Definite damage, but after a while, I really loved it and put lots of oils in it to replenish it.

It sounds like you have different hair than I do though. I agree with the folks that said to use different hair products. DON'T wash your hair every day; twice a week would be best. You can use leave in water based products that help with frizz. I really like Aubrey Island Naturals shampoo and conditioner. Also check out Curlfriends! Below is a link to my fave curlfriends product, but they are really great so check it out before you spend hundreds on straightening.
