seriously.... EVERY GIRL I KNOW straightens her hair, even if their hair is already straight.... why does everyone all of a sudden decide to straighten their hair? why and when did it become the new thing?

well its just that most of them think its cool to fall into peer pressure, they think that if they straightend their hair they will become instantly cool. even though the movie mean girls say that its bad to fall into peer pressure and bad to be a ***** girls still do it, they get ideas from that movie.....how to be mean. even though theirs a movie on being true to yourself and being nice to your friends there is always a part of a girl that will be ******. its good that you havent fell into peer pressure. good for u:)

It's been "IN" for quite a while. It's nothing new. I used to straighten my hair but I quit because it got so damaged and it thins out the hair too much. Though the reason i did it is because it made my hair super shiny.
Don't blame Mean Girls for that though. It's been going on way before.

I understand if they're trying to straighten out a wild kink from sleeping on it weird or something like that, but the whole head all of the time..? Blah.
Don't get me wrong, I like straight hair just fine, but it does seem that everyone does (though I know it's not everyone) to the point of burning their hair.
Of course, I also believe that if they want to do it, then they should. It's just that in my opinion, when it's straightened to this point, it just isn't attractive. That's just me though.

i straighten my hair because i have a big ball of uncontrolable fluff therefore i have to straighten my hair.. happy? and i didn't start straightening my hair because of that W**** regina george. i started it because my friends introduced me to it cuz they hated my fluff ball thank you very much

I think it is one of those want what you don't have things,they don't have sstraight hair and now they can make it different. as for the regina george thing after watching the movie they don't relly look at the moral\which are don't act like a total ***** becuase people to like you and you get hit by a bus but that if they dress and act like that they may have a slight chance of becoming popular(which as a teen is all they want) even if it is only for a while you were stll on top.

You know, one person straightens their hair, then another person, and bam you have a new fad. I got sucked into that for 2 whole years. Ugh, I can't believe it. I'm wearing my hair natural (it's between wavy and curly) next year, or I'm curling it. And maybe I'll occassionally straighten it, but it's so ugly when you have stick thin hair! It makes your face look fat, too, if you don't have bangs!

I think its stupid that girls with already straight hair straighten their hair. My gahd be happy with it! I do straighten my hair sometimes, but thats because I have uncontrollable thick and frizzy hair when its natural. I love my natural hair, and so does other people, but sometimes its good to take a break and have it easier.

I have naturally straight hair but I straighten mine because its really thick and on the long side, so if I don't straighten i my hair kind of just goes all over the place. Sometimes my hair dries with little waves in it too so if I'm trying to make my hair look perfectly straight I HAVE to straighten it. I rarely straighten my hair though, I curl or wave it, because I think hair looks much better curled or straightened.
I think a lot of girls straighten their hair because its the new "trend" and whatnot.

I straighten my hair because prior to hair straightening i had to use a lot of greasy product, to control my hair and starightening offers a much more polished look. My friends agree here, and it most certainly wasn't inspired by mean girls (none of us have seen it) it was more due to the increased availability and quality of straightening irons that occured roughly four years ago (when i started straghtening my hair). Unfortunately i can not explain the 'regina george effect.' Here in NZ we most certainly aren't free from cattiness during school, but during the time i spent in America over the last ten years, I noticed it was much, much worse over there. Poor you.
