Heat really dries out hair, and some inexpensive hair straighteners break hair. Use a straightener that uses high temperature ceramic plates or Tourmaline. These can even help your hair absorb moisture, so that is an added plus.

Also, make sure that the temperature settings can be precisely controlled, so that the iron doesn't get too hot.

Also, regular use of a good hair treatment oil is recommend. Of course, use a very nice conditioner everytime you shampoo.

I like those silicone anti-frizz lotions for use outside the shower after shampoo/conditioner.

Try using mane and tail leave in conditioner or using a hot comb sometimes and not a straightener all the time

Hi. A few things... First, be sure you are not using too hot of a setting on your electric (?) pressing comb / straightening device. Also, definitely LIMIT the amount of heat you put on your hair - perhaps only straighten it once a week at MOST. Finally, and a big one, ... Don't ever straighten your hair without first protecting it with some sort of conditioner (Ieave-on). I would have said to use a pressing oil / cream / conditioner on your hair prior to straightening it but then you mentioned that your hair is fine... it may still be the best thing to do however. Just don't use very much. Get a pressing conditioner (leave-on oil-type conditioner) of some sort ("creme satin press") and only use a LITTLE on the palms of your hands and smooth generously throughout your hair. (Don't put too much at first until you determine how much is, really, too much. You don't want your hair to look greasy and weighted down yet, you want to protect from putting direct heat on "dry" hair.) That reminds me, don't, obviously, straighten your hair w/ a "wet" conditioner (or while your hair is still wet. This may be a "duh" but, just in case) (smile).

Anyway, to reiterate, the less you put heat on your hair (time-wise... wait weeks between) the better. Heat and it's drying effects tend to break off your hair. My hair grew so much better once I stopped pressing it for everyday "touch ups" and started getting it done, at most, every two weeks. And, as always, pre-natal vitamins seem to work great for hair growth. Many women take them daily simply as a vitamin suppliment (without being pregnant). (Check with your local pharmacist first, just to be sure.) They are available over-the-counter most everywhere vitamins are sold.

Hope this helps. Take care and God Bless!

If your hair is processed like that you have to take good care of it. you have to use hair conditior whenever you wash your hair and every week you have to apply hair treatment to protect and condition it and repair its damage. try hair treatment w/ virgin coconut oil it really helps you can buy it here

I had this same problem....You should try applying Lanza Straightening Balm before you blow dry your hair. When you Straighten your hair it should be smooth, silk and hydrated. Or you could apply some type of heat serum through your hair right before you straighten it.

I would not straighten it as much as you do. Straighting can dry your hair out, give you dead ends, and even make it feel dry.
