I was wondering if men can have their hair professionally straightened. I know it's a wierd question but my hair curls a lil' bit at the bangs and a lil' on the sides, %26amp; it drives me nuts! My hair is about medium length and my bangs go a lil' pass my eyebrows... if they were straight. So is it possible for me to get my hair straightened and if so, what exactly do they, as in hair-dressers, do to the hair? (The Steps) Thanks!

They could use a straightening iron on your hair or they could give you a relaxer which would chemically straighten your hair. A relaxer would last a lot longer. About a month. But, yeah, you can totally get something done about that.

I straighten it every day but it is so easily crimped into waves within a couple of hours, plus the straightening (sp?) makes my hair flat and plain. ok. i have very very thick hair myself accept my hair is brown and 3 inches past my shoulders but anyways, what you should do is..look in magazines or online for a cut that YOU like and think would look good with your shape of face then wen u get ur hair cut ask the stylist to do it like that. or u can get like a emo or scene kid type of cut..it has alot of volume on the top and then is thin on the bottom.. well i hope my answer helps :)

i would suggest a hair cream. dove has a great anti frizz cream. also sont straighten it too much or it will become a giant frizz ball. you can always try blow drying your hair with a round brush too. they do it in salons, iand it gives a little curvy and bounce to your hair. there is also a article in seventeen magazine of how to take your waves and defrizz them and make them beatiful. good luckk :]

i do the same exact thing. for my shampoo i use head %26amp; shoulders silk and shiney because my hair dryer tends to dry my scalp and cause dandruff and then for my conditioner i use the new dove extreme damage repair. it leaves my hair very shiney and now i have less split-ends and flyaways!

I use Sunsilk Summer care conditioner and always put in Delorenzo Satur8. It makes my hair beautiful and shiny, and also really soft. I also have used Schwartkof Seal the Ends and that works very well for me also.

I've tried them all but I personally like Matrix Smoothing Line products the best. I find that they smooth and de-poof my hair enough so that I spend less time blow drying and flat-ironing. My stylist sold me on Redken All-Soft shampoo and conditioner. I find it makes a big difference, even though I was skeptical at first. She also recommended using Redken Extreme before heat-styling, which is a really light, protective leave-in conditioner.

i am a professional hairstylist. I would definatly not try this at home. If you have ethnic hair, and it has been permanetly straightened, it is most likely very porous, and/or has become dryer from the chemicals. Your best bet is not to highlite. But, if you MUST, maybe just go for a few foil placed highlites just around your face, and nothing too light. The only way you will get the highlite in is with a "bleach" or "lightener", which will then require careful skill behind it to be sure that the appropriate pre-conditioning %26amp; post-conditioning treatments as well as proper developer strength are being chosen.

I am going to get my hair chemically straightened, and I was wondering if there are different degrees like mild straightening and strong? Could i get mild and so it would be like straight but not SUPER straight?? just more relaxed?

There are definitely different levels of chemical relaxing. Make sure for your first time, have a professional or a student do it, so they have access to quality products that will work to the degree of relaxing you desire.

My stylist informed me that hair dye and the chemicals used in the straightening don't work together at all. Are there any ways that I can make my hair lighter[I'm blonde] without use of hair dye? There's no way to straighten your hair (naturally). Forever at least b/c the texture of your hair's in the DNA. There are products that relax curls--John Frieda makes a couple I think and I've heard of a product called Alterna that can change the molecular structure of your hair. (www.4alterna.com) :-)

The DNA/genetics you were born with rules how you will look and how your hair is. There is nothing on the market to naturally straighten hair. Your hair is going to do what it has been biologically programmed to do. The best thing you can do is style/cut it in the manner with which it wants to go. Work with your hair texture, and not against it. Otherwise you will need to use heating products ets. Good luck.
