How to style hair after straightening (MEN)? Gel, Wax, Paste, Gum?

Hey. Recently i bought a pair of small straighteners. I have 2 - 3 inches of hair that is shorter on the sides.

The past so many years i have gelled my hair using Bryllcream.

I invested in a pair of straighteners to experiment on different hairstyles. I like my hair spiked up with a fringe at the front.

My main question is..

After i have washed me hair, i blow dry, then straighten. My hair is very straight but needs styling. I know the style i want, but the problem comes to the products i should use. I have several gels and glues in a basket, all decent and expensive. I have tried wax and things but they leave my hair too light and fluffy, so i tend to use gel. The thing is how can i get my hair to stay straight after putting gel on?

I find as soon as i apply gel it looses its shape, and i just go back to the old messy look.

Can some1 give me some tips? Also, does it damage the straighteners if i straighten after the application of gel?

I want hardish hair. Perfect HAIR?

If your hair is even the slightest bit textured (like someone who's had an African ancestor) you should only use gel if you want a controlled curl or wavy hair. Gel wets the hair and once it's wet, it will revert to curly. To get straight hair to stay in place, use hair spray or hair grease.

hardish hair is gross thats not what you want. you want american crew fiber it has little fibers in it to bulk up your hair and it stays pliable so you can adjust you hair throughout the day. you take a small amount in your hand and rub it around til your body heat warms it will soften it then apply
