Okay. I am a guy. I am 15 years old. 75% of people sterotype me as emo/scene/homosexual which is absurd. I wear "skinny jeans", band tees, hoodies, slip on Vans and I straighten my hair. Personally, I hate lables. It's as if I'm walking around with a label on my forehead.

How is it gay to want to have straight hair? How is it I'm a homosexual if I hate walking around with the feeling of excess denim flying around off my legs? HOW IS THAT GAY? Isn't homosexuality when you like the same gender of people as you? Since when are people classified with their sexuality in the way they dress, what music they listen to or if their hair covers their eyes?

And another news flash, half of you people that call people emo or scene have no clue what we really stand for. All of my friends are classified as emo/scene and everybody says we cut ourselves. Uhhh...I have never met anyone that cuts themselves. Stupid.

I have heard of emo but what is scene? Slip on Vans have been around for decades. They were for skaters in the 80's. Nothing to do with gayness.

Gosh, you sound just like my daughter, only male. She wears black skinny jeans, slip on vans and converse and she straightens her black long hair which covers her face. I know exactly how you feel. I would never consider you gay or anything remotely like that. It doesn't matter what clothes you wear or how you look, nothing like that makes you gay or any other which way. You can never judge a book by its cover. I've seen big butch builders open their mouth and sound like high-pitched nancy boys. We are all different, and I've learnt that whatever we look like, well it's our perrogative to look that way, we all have different tastes and it doesn't alter our personality or otherwise. :-)

When you're 15 it doesn't matter what you are wearing or how you fix your hair, kids are going to pick on you no matter what you do or what you look like. So be your self and ignore them and focus on your school work. When you react to what they are saying abut you it just makes them want to say more. Who cares what you look like now, if you do your best in school ( which is only a few years of your life ) then when you get out you will have WAY more opportunities than those kids that were picking on you.... You'll see at you 10 year high school reunion!

15 and being stereo typed by other teens your age is usually done by insecurity and being scared of what they don't understand. People alwayss lash out at others for what little knowledge they have of the aspect or the unknown. They also sometimes will self project there insecurity onto others making them feel better about there self. Just be you and don't let the world manipulate what they are afraid of. Keeping your mind open will alway open new ideas and possibilities/creativity.

Yes, I know what you're talking about... See the Emo Scene became popular around 2001-2002 I think is when MTV and FUSE glamorized it to be more trendy, I could be wrong, but yea it's nothing new. It's been around the 80's, but it wasn't too mainstream yet or very popular.

I really hate the labels too, most people don't understand the History or the culture, and they always assume Fallout Boy is Emo when it is pop rock, and also in conjunction with My Chemcal Romance, almost everyone claims it to be Emo when it really isn't.

See? Not all Emo people are gay, and cut their wrists and jump off buildings... I have EMO friends and they are not like that! They are just normal people.

Suicide- It's kind of an Oxymoron to say that all EMO people cut themselves, when there are a million or more each year that commit suicide, and they aren't even EMO.

Hair- EMO people have hair covering their eyes, that's nothing new either... My dad showed me a picture of his buddies back in high school that had that kind of hair.
