Does straightening hair take away your natural curls?

I have banana curls and ringlets and i feel its easier to work with straightened hair- so 2 days out of the week i straighten my hair- but i can't help but wonder if i straighten it so much.. will it take away my natural curls? I don't want that to happen.

i know someone who's straightened her hair everyday for...oh 5 years and whenever she takes a shower her curls come out just as curly as before. the only thing that happened to her is that her curls are less smooth. shouldnt be a problem for you if you only do it 2 days of the week.

straightening your hair does not take away your curls after you straighten your hair at night get in the shower and wash your hair and your curls will come back! :)

i have pretty curly hair myself, and typically the day after i staighten my hair is when my hair is actually the curliest. i don't think it hurts it at all, just like when people with straight hair curl their hair, it doesn't make it curly.

If your hair is naturally curly, straightening it will not stop the natural curls.

I don't think that straightening affects natural curls, but if it does, it's minimal. Use a spray gel or something in the morning while your hair is curly, so that they stay in and don't go flat. Doubt they will, though.

I have natural curly hair too.. and I also straighten it, but only 3 times a week usually.

It can't take away your natural curl, just for a little while - liek a couple days or so, or until it gets wet!!

Nope. I straighten my hair every single day with bed head. It doesn't get your curls straight. I have totally curly hair and I have been straightening my hair every single day for about 3 years which isn't good for it. To sum it up, your hair will not get straight by using a straight iron everyday.
